King Condo Project
Overview
The King Condo Project involved furnishing an empty condominium in Costa Mesa, California. The focus was on transforming the living room, dining room, and two bedrooms into vibrant, welcoming spaces that reflected the client’s style while working with some existing elements.
Project Goals
- Add Color and Personality: Introduce accent colors to brighten up the existing black, white, and gray palette.
- Integrate Existing Furniture: Seamlessly integrate the client’s current sectional sofa into the new design.
- Allow for Personal Touches: Let the client personalize the space over time with his own artwork and accessories.
Design and Implementation
Color Accents:
- Living and Dining Areas: We brought in green accents using pillows, throws, and decorative items to add warmth and energy.
- Guest Bedroom: Chose blue tones to create a soothing and inviting atmosphere for guests.
Furniture Selection:
- New Pieces: Selected furniture that complemented the existing sectional and matched the overall color scheme.
- Functional Layouts: Designed room setups that improved flow and made the most of the space.
Personalization:
- Artwork and Accessories: Left wall spaces open so the client can add his own artwork and accessories whenever he’s ready.
- Collaborative Approach: Worked closely with the client to ensure everything reflected his style and comfort preferences.
Challenges
- Integrating Existing Furniture: Made sure the client’s gray sectional sofa fit well with the new design without looking out of place.
- Unfinished Accessories: Created a design that felt complete and polished, even though some accessories and artwork would be added later.
Outcome
The project turned an empty condo into a vibrant and comfortable home. The strategic use of green and blue accents brought life to the neutral base colors, and including the existing furniture kept a sense of familiarity for the client. The flexible design allows him to personalize the space further with his own artwork and accessories over time. He was pleased with the outcome and enjoyed a process that was tailored to his preferences.
Future Plans
The client intends to continue renovating other parts of their home, including the master bathroom, additional bathrooms, and bedrooms.
