Favro Bathroom Remodel (Orange County, CA)
Overview
The Favro Bathroom remodel brought new life to a dated space by replacing the old tub with a walk-in shower and making thoughtful updates that balanced comfort, safety, and design. The layout remained largely the same, but every change was made with intention, resulting in a fresh and cohesive bathroom that feels modern and easy to use.
Project Goals
- Create a walk-in shower in place of the tub.
- Improve accessibility with grab bars and an updated shower layout.
- Refresh finishes for a unified, modern look.
- Keep costs efficient by retaining the floor and existing lighting/mirror.
- Address plumbing upkeep beyond the main bathroom remodel.
Design and Implementation
Layout & Structural Changes
- Removed the tub and installed a solid composite stone shower surround with matching pan.
- Raised the shower head for better comfort and use.
- Patched the existing floor where needed near the pan to keep a seamless finish.
Materials & Finishes
- Composite stone chosen to match the vanity top, tying the design together.
- Fixed glass shower panel to keep the space open and light.
- Fresh wall texture and paint for a clean finish.
Key Elements
- Grab bars added for safety and peace of mind.
- Coordinated stone between vanity and shower for a consistent look.
- Lighting and mirror retained, blending well with the updated features.
Challenges
- Careful stone selection was needed to match the vanity with the new shower surround.
- Preserving the existing flooring required precise patchwork to avoid visible seams.
Outcome
The remodel delivered a bathroom that feels modern, functional, and safe without losing the character of the original space. The cohesive stonework and fresh finishes created a polished look, while the new shower makes daily use easier. Small but important extras – like servicing the water heater and updating the upstairs faucet — ensured the client’s home was left in excellent working order. The result is a bathroom that balances style, practicality, and long-term comfort.
