Azevedo Kitchen Remodel

Overview

The Azevedo Kitchen project in Anaheim Hills, California, involved a complete remodel following a flood. The focus was on creating a visually striking kitchen with enhanced functionality.

Project Goals

  • Rebuild and Modernize: Restore the kitchen using durable, high-quality materials.
  • Design Focus: Make the island and veining a focal point by aligning elements strategically.

Design and Implementation

Layout Adjustments:

  • Moved the range to the left to center it on the back wall, aligning with the island.
  • Utilized quartzite slabs for a continuous veining effect from the island to the back wall.

Cabinetry and Island

  • Mixed gray cabinets with a wood island and accent wood features for contrast.
  • Added a bump-out on an upper cabinet for an additional focal point.

Bar Area

  • Used dark wood and quartzite with a waterfall edge to match the kitchen island.
  • Customized wall niches to display the client’s glass collection.

Flooring

Installed large format porcelain tiles for a seamless look with minimal grout lines.

Challenges

Wall Alignment: Adjusted the island placement due to non-square walls, aligning it straight with the right wall to maintain visual continuity.

Outcome

The remodel achieved a modern, cohesive design that highlights the island and cabinetry. The project successfully addressed the client’s needs while overcoming structural challenges.
